伯16:1 約伯回答說、
Then Job answered and said,
伯16:2 這樣的話我聽了許多．你們安慰人、反叫人愁煩。
I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all.
伯16:3 虛空的言語有窮盡麼．有甚麼話惹動你回答呢。
Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest?
伯16:4 我也能說你們那樣的話．你們若處在我的境遇、我也會聯絡言語攻擊你們、又能向你們搖頭。
I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you.
伯16:5 但我必用口堅固你們、用嘴消解你們的憂愁。
But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief.
伯16:6 我雖說話、憂愁仍不得消解．我雖停住不說、憂愁就離開我麼。
Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased?
伯16:7 但現在 神使我困倦．使親友遠離我。
But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company.
伯16:8 又抓住我、作見證攻擊我．我身體的枯瘦也當面見證我的不是。
And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face.
伯16:9 主發怒撕裂我、逼迫我、向我切齒．我的敵人怒目看我。
He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me.
伯16:10 他們向我開口、打我的臉羞辱我、聚會攻擊我。
They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.
伯16:11 神把我交給不敬虔的人、把我扔到惡人的手中。
God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked.
伯16:12 我素來安逸、他折斷我、掐住我的頸項、把我摔碎、又立我為他的箭靶子。
I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark.
伯16:13 他的弓箭手四面圍繞我．他破裂我的肺腑、並不留情．把我的膽傾倒在地上．
His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground.
伯16:14 將我破裂又破裂．如同勇士向我直闖。
He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant.
伯16:15 我縫麻布在我皮膚上、把我的角放在塵土中。
I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust.
伯16:16 我的臉、因哭泣發紫、在我的眼皮上有死蔭。
My face is foul with weeping, and my eyelids is the shadow of death;
伯16:17 我的手中、卻無強暴、我的祈禱、也是清潔。
Not for any injustice in mine hands: also my prayer is pure.
伯16:18 地阿、不要遮蓋我的血、不要阻擋我的哀求。
O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place.
伯16:19 現今、在天有我的見證、在上有我的中保。
Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high.
伯16:20 我的朋友譏誚我．我卻向 神眼淚汪汪．
My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.
伯16:21 願人得與 神辯白、如同人與朋友辯白一樣。
O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour!
伯16:22 因為再過幾年、我必走那往而不返之路。
When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return.
